PLECS – Power Electronics Circuit Simulator

PLECS is simulation software designed for modeling and analyzing complex power electronic systems, electrical drives, and embedded control applications. Developed by Plexim and exclusively distributed in India by Pantronics, PLECS streamlines the design and testing process for engineers working on motor drives, converters, renewable energy systems, and electric vehicles (EVs).

PLECS comes in two editions to cater to different simulation needs:

  • PLECS Standalone – A fast, lightweight simulation platform that works independently of MATLAB®/Simulink®. It is ideal for real-time testing, rapid development, and system-level validation.
  • PLECS Blockset – This edition integrates directly with MATLAB®/Simulink®, offering modeling capabilities for detailed and large-scale simulations.

PLECS Blockset Packages

To run PLECS Blockset, you need to have MATLAB and Simulink installed on your system. The table below shows the supported platforms and compatible MATLAB versions.

Download the right package and follow the installation instructions provided.

Each package includes all components for the following PLECS products. Your license file will determine which features are active:

  • PLECS Blockset

  • PLECS PIL (Processor-in-the-Loop)

Note: You do not need administrator privileges to install PLECS.

PLECS Coder – Code Generation for Power Electronics Microcontrollers

PLECS Coder is a fast, easy-to-use tool for generating embedded code directly from your control schematic, without the need for hand-coding. RT Box – Real-Time HIL Simulator for Power Electronics

RT Box is Plexim’s high-performance real-time simulator, specifically designed for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and rapid control prototyping of power electronic systems. It is available only in India through Pantronics. RT Box lets engineers test control strategies using virtual power circuits before deploying hardware. This approach reduces risk and speeds up development.

RT Box features advanced solver technologies, including the proprietary Nanostep® solver. It allows simulation time steps as low as 4 nanoseconds, which is perfect for high-frequency switching applications like dual active bridges, LLC resonant converters, and 3-phase inverters that operate at up to 1 MHz.

Whether validating embedded controllers or modeling large converter-based systems, RT Box provides fast signal processing, minimal loop latency, and high fidelity. These elements are critical for developing reliable power electronics in electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and microgrids.
